In the summer of 1957, a group of Reno County citizens gathered together to gauge the viability of securing a shelter for children who were suddenly without a home. With the help of many individuals and organizations, a home was formally opened on September 10, 1958.
Our mission is to provide a safe, secure, loving environment to children removed from their homes through no fault of their own.
The Shelter receives fees from the State of Kansas. The fee for keeping a child in the Shelter is set by the State.
This fee does not cover all of the operating costs and therefore, we rely on grants and donations to fill the gap. Without donations from our generous donors, we wouldn't be able to keep our doors open and help children in need.
Do you love kids and working with them? Are you dependable?
Becoming a childcare provide at the Children's Emergency Shelter Home may be for you, a place where you can make a difference in a child's life.
